Code of Conduct for the Library Media Center 2025/2026
General Expectations

The LMC is a Safe Environment for all students to be creative and explore a multitude of literature.

Students are encouraged to work on homework/ study, but also have to opportunity to play games and participate in monthly crafts.
Entering the LMC
-
Students must secure a physical pass from their study hall teachers before coming to the LMC.

Upon entering, all students must sign in on the LibraryTrac Chromebook.
Conduct While in the LMC
Students must:

Show respect to all LMC staff.

Show respect to all LMC users.
-
Show respect to All LMC tools.
Additional expectations:

Food is not allowed in the LMC.

Electronic devices are not permitted.
Electronic Device Interventions:

When devices are confiscated, they will be brought to the main office to be stored till the end of the day.

Any consequences will depend on the main office and how many times it has been confiscated previously.

Leaving the LMC During a Period
-
After attendance is verified, students may ask permission to leave for the restroom, locker, talk with a teacher, etc.

Only 1 student may leave the library at a time.

Students must sign out and sign back in on the physical when leaving and returning.
Before Leaving the LMC
-
Push in chairs.

Return library materials.

Pick up litter.
Non-Compliance
-
Non-compliance with any rules may result in being returned to study hall.

Loss of LMC privileges and/or disciplinary action may occur if rules or staff requests are not followed.

All library rules and policies are subject to modification at the discretion of LCSD school librarians and administrators.
Progressive Discipline for Repeated Disregard of Rules

1st Intervention: Student will be either asked to cease behavior of to go back to study hall for the day.

2nd Intervention: Student will sent back to study hall for one to two weeks, depending on severity.

3rd Intervention: Student will be sent back to study for two to three weeks, depending on severity.

4th Intervention: Written referral to an administrator with loss of LMC study hall privileges for the rest of the year. (Note: this DOES NOT include their class coming down for lessons or the ability for the student to check out books.)
