Welcome Back
Dear Lancaster Middle School Families,
Let me officially welcome you to the 2024-25 school year. I hope everyone has had and continues to have a chance to enjoy all that summer has to offer. As the start of the school year approaches, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome students back. We can’t wait to see all that your students accomplish this year.
Below and attached you will find further information that we hope you find helpful as we approach the start of the school year. Our goal with this information is to assist with ensuring a successful start of the school year.
Building Walkthrough:
We are completing student and staff schedules and are excited to begin the 2024-2025 school year. In an effort to make the first few days of school a bit more comfortable for students and parents, we are having a “Walk Through” for all students on Monday, August 26th from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. To expedite the process, please bring a copy of your student schedule which can be found on the parent portal before the building walkthrough.
During the walkthrough you will:
-
Be able to take a self-guided tour of the building using your copy of the student schedule. Computer access will be available in The Hub, room 110 for those who do not have their portal set up.
-
Pick up their school issued Chromebook, if you do not have one yet.
-
Purchase a required planner ($4) and school lock(s) ($6). If your child currently has a lock from William Street, he/she may use that lock at Lancaster Middle School. Locker assignments will be listed on the schedule, and students may set up their locker that day.
-
Please note: Our first full day of classes will begin on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
-
We are looking forward to the start of the new school year. Working together between home and school will provide a positive experience for your child at Lancaster Middle School.
-
Attached is a building map to assist your child for August 26th and the first few days of school as well as our bell schedule for the year. Please know there will also be a map in the student planners.
Breakfast:
Breakfast will be held in the cafeteria from 7:00 am-7:30 am. If your child/children qualify for free meals, they are also entitled to receive a cost-free breakfast.
Chromebooks:
Students will receive a school issued chromebook on August 26th or the first day of school. 8th grade students should have their Chromebook from the previous school year. This will be their Chromebook for the remainder of their time in Lancaster. Students are responsible for the care of these devices and are expected to bring them to school everyday fully charged. Students should keep the chargers in a safe place at home for the remainder of their Lancaster Schools’ affiliation. Chromebooks should be charged and ready to go for the first day of school.
Lockers & LCSD Locks:
If your child misses the walkthrough on August 26th, locks will be sold during an extended first period on the first day of school, students will be able to buy a school issued lock for $6.00. If you already have a school issued lock, please bring that with you on the day of the walk through and/or the first day of school. Students are required to use their lockers. Locker numbers will be listed in the student portal.
Morning Drop off:
Students that are being dropped off in the morning may arrive at school as early as 7:00 am. Students will enter the building at door 12 (nearest to the back parking lot) and report directly to the cafeteria until the first period begins. To keep traffic moving, please refrain from parking in a car space and simply drop your child off in the loop.
Opening Day Schedules:
We will have an extended first period the first two days of school. This will allow your students to watch informational videos, finish getting their lockers set up, get their chromebooks, buy school issued locks and get to know some of their classmates.
Google Classrooms:
Each grade level has a Google classroom that we ask you to join if you haven’t already joined. In each classroom you will find a building map and some welcome back information.
7th Graders if you have not done so already, please join the following Google classroom dynuvim. We will post and share any relevant whole school information here for you.
8th Graders if you have not done so already, please join the following Google classroom tqbnued. Again, we will post and share any relevant whole school information here for you. It will also be used to assist with your transition to the High School.
Student Schedules:
Your student's schedule will be posted to the parent portal prior to the walkthrough. Administration and the counselors have been working hard to finalize this for your students. We will send another message out to let you know when they are posted. Thank you for your patience. During the opening days of school, we will have student leaders and adults around the building to help students navigate their schedule if and when they need to. Below is the alphabetical breakdown of counselors by last name.

LMS Families, As fall quickly passes, and winter is just around the corner, we couldn’t be happier with how the school year has started. Students are busy learning new concepts, working with classmates, joining new clubs and sports, but most importantly learning and growing! It is hard to believe the first quarter is wrapping up soon! It is truly a team effort to ensure our students have a wonderful learning experience while at LMS. We ask that you please continue to have conversations at home, check the parent portal often, check students' Google Classrooms, and encourage your child to reach out to their teacher or counselor if they have any questions or need any support. We want to continue to empower your child to advocate for themselves. Collectively, we hope by keeping connections between school and home open we can foster a sense of independence and leadership within your middle school student. We can’t wait to see what the next few months have in store for us all at LMS. Thanks for all you do! We hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Sincerely, Mrs. Stephanie Lackie and Mr. John Tresmond LMS Principal and Assistant Principal

Drama Club Announcement
There are multiple clubs that you can join at LMS, and a great one to consider is the Drama Club. Drama Club offers a lot of positions that are not just singing or acting. For example, the Pit, which provides the music, Tech Crew is in charge of the lights, microphone, and more. Stage Crew is responsible for the scenery and props that go on and off the stage. So, there is a part for everyone!
The first Drama Club meeting is on September 18th, 2024 in the Auditorium from 2:30- 3:30 pm. Ms. Conlon and the officers will explain what Drama Club is and how you audition or apply to earn a spot in the production. We will review the timeline of events and what you can expect at each step of the process.
You might not be able to make it to the first Drama Club meeting but here at Drama Club we have multiple membership meeting opportunities! In order to be eligible to audition you have to attend at least 1 out of the 3 membership meetings. The second meeting is on October 3rd where we will announce this year’s musical and the third meeting is on October 24th where we will practice the audition process together an go over tips for success while auditioning.
Some things that we love about Drama Club is that everyone here is like a family. For example, you can talk to anyone about anything and they will listen. Drama Club is a big commitment that involved hard work, attention to detail, and teamwork, but in the end you will feel accomplished and have an amazing performance to show your friends and family. For some, it is an experience where you try it out and finally find a place where you belong. We are all so excited to meet all the new Drama Club members, and cannot wait for the musical!
Sincerely,
The 2024-2025 Drama Club Officers
Orchestra
The LMS Orchestra's first concert of the school year will be held on Monday, November 25th. The 7th Grade Orchestra is performing at 7pm, and the 8th Grade Orchestra at 8pm. Student performers should wear all black clothing with black shoes. We look forward to sharing what we've been working on!
Carnival Kids Steel Orchestra
Auditions for CKSO (the Carnival Kids Steel Orchestra) will take place on November 7th at 2:15 in the band room. Please see Mrs. Giordano for more information.
Sustainability Club
Advisor: Mrs. Amy Reardon
Students got community service hours for weeding in the village on Central and Broadway. “We had fun and learned why "it’s important to include these plants in our community.”
Donations to Sustainability would be so appreciated - trash bags, gardening tools/supplies, monetary donations can be made to help with plans for the LMS Greenhouse and Compost Kit. Please contact Mrs. Reardon at areardon@lancasterschools.org with questions!
LMS Gazette
The LMS Gazette Club produces the school newspaper. We produce a newspaper bimonthly. We meet on Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30pm in classroom 100. The club has such a huge number of students that we have separated into two subgroups. These two subgroups alternate Tuesdays so that we can work in smaller, more focused groups. We also do energizers and have fun connecting across grade levels!
